On January 1, 1952 postcard rates increased from 1-cent (penny postcards) to 2-cents. Here is a First Day Postal Card Set issued on December 27, 1951. This card set was used by businesses where the cover card was for mailing and the tear-off response card was pre-paid, which encouraged a customer to respond to the mailing.

(C-0012) U.S. #1063 1954 3¢ Lewis and Clark Expedition – Block of Four First Day of Issue: July 28, 1954  City: Sioux City, Iowa The only man to die on this dangerous journey was Sergeant Charles Floyd. Floyd took ill at the end of July 1804 and died on August 20. The expedition held a funeral and buried Floyd on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River (today, just outside Sioux City, Iowa); they named it Floyd’s Bluff in his honor.
