(S-0066) U.S. #1633-#1682  1776-1976 Bicentennial – State Flags – Set of 50. First Day of Issue: February 23, 1976  City: Washington, DC. Issued as part of the ongoing Bicentennial celebration, the 13¢ State Flags pane was a first in U.S. history. This was the first time a pane with 50 face-different stamps was issued. Each state is represented by its official flag, with the stamps arranged on the sheet in the same order each state was admitted into the Union.

(C-0160) R.A.G.B.R.A.I – IV.  Every year since 1973,  bicycle riders from around the world come to Iowa to ride across the state over a week’s time. The 1976 race covered 430 miles and went through Iowa City on August 6.  U.S. #1596  1975 13¢ Eagle & Shield – Americana Series First Day of Issue: December 1, 1975  City: Juneau, Alaska  Postmarked on August 6, 1976 in Iowa City.

(C-0007) U.S. #1734 1978 13¢ Indian Head Penny First Day of Issue: January 11, 1978 City: Kansas City, MO To lower production costs and increase output, the U.S. Postal Service experimented with this “midget” stamp. The smaller image area, which was about 1/3 smaller than usual, provided for 150 stamps per pane instead of the usual 100. This unique issue pictures the 1877 Indian Head Penny, a prized collector coin.
